Road Riddles – Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026
App: Road Riddles for iPhone
Developer: Docs4Macs

The short version

Road Riddles does not collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything the game remembers stays on your device. The only features that involve a service outside the app are Apple’s own: optional purchases through the App Store, optional Game Center leaderboards, and, only if you use it, Apple’s speech recognition for Say it. The app has no servers of its own.

What the app stores, and where

To remember your game between launches, Road Riddles saves a small amount of information only on your device, in the app’s private local storage:

This information never leaves your device. We (the developer) can’t see it, and nobody else receives it. It isn’t linked to your name, Apple ID, email or any other identifier.

You’re in control of it:

If you back up your device with iCloud or your computer, this app data may be included in that backup, like other apps’ data. Apple handles those backups under its own privacy policy. We never have access to them.

What the app does not do

Purchases and Game Center

Road Riddles offers optional in-app purchases (plate packs, a Supporter bundle and hint coins). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple’s App Store; we do not see your payment details or Apple ID, and the app never sends purchase information anywhere. Hint coins can also be earned by playing.

Road Riddles also uses Apple’s Game Center for optional leaderboards. If you are signed in to Game Center, your scores are sent to Apple’s Game Center service and shown on leaderboards under your Game Center name, as described in Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive or store your Game Center identity.

The Suggest a plate and Spot a plate screens only prepare a message (a mailto: link that opens your own e-mail app, or the share sheet) that you choose to send yourself. The app itself sends nothing and collects nothing, and the plate text you type is not stored by the app.

Say it (optional)

If you tap the microphone button, Road Riddles asks iOS for permission to use the microphone and Apple’s speech recognition, only at that moment. Your speech is turned into text by Apple’s Speech framework. The app asks iOS to recognise speech on your iPhone whenever your device and language support it; in that case the audio never leaves the device. If on-device recognition isn’t available for your language or device, Apple may process the speech on Apple’s servers under Apple’s privacy policy (this is Apple’s service, not ours). Road Riddles does not record, save or send audio, and does not store or send what you said; the text is used once to check your answer and then discarded. You can say no, or turn the permission off any time in iOS Settings → Road Riddles; the game works fully by typing.

Daily reminder (optional)

The reminder is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, the app asks iOS for permission to show notifications and schedules one local notification per day at the time you choose (“Today’s plate is ready”). It is created and delivered on your device; nothing is sent to a server, and there is no push notification service. Turning it off cancels it.

Home screen widget (optional)

If you add the Road Riddles widget, the app shares your current streak and whether today’s Daily is done with the widget through a private storage area on your device (an App Group). It is not sent anywhere.

Sharing your results and challenging a friend

When you tap Share on the Daily Challenge results card, the app opens Apple’s standard share sheet with a short text, for example:

Road Riddles Daily #3 🚗 450 pts
🟩🟩🟨🟩🟩
🔥 streak 1

Tapping Challenge draws a picture card (a plate or your Timed score) on your device and opens the share sheet with the picture and a short text. Nothing is sent unless you pick where to send it. No links and no accounts are involved, and the text and cards contain no personal information. The app doesn’t learn where (or whether) you shared. The app that receives it handles it under that app’s own privacy policy.

Sound, music and haptics

Music, sound effects and vibration (haptic feedback) are produced on your device. They don’t collect any data, and can be switched on and off separately in Settings.

Information Apple may collect

Apple may give developers aggregated, anonymous App Store statistics (for example, download counts). If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may also give us anonymous crash reports. Apple controls this under its own privacy policy, and you can turn it off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. We don’t use this information to identify anyone.

This website

This website (roadriddles.com) is a static site. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. Like most web hosts, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested). If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

Children’s privacy

Road Riddles is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country).

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, we’ll update this policy and the “Effective date” above before that version is released. Where required, we’ll also update the App Store privacy details. Material changes will be described in the app’s release notes.
